The Memphis Music Foundation faces unique challenges when it comes to social media and Web 2.0 – for the more than 1,600 musicians who are members of the Music Resource Center, the MMF’s core program, the Foundation’s social presence seeks to be both a resource and a promotional platform. At the same time, the Foundation uses social tools to build connections with people citywide who may never have sung a tune or played a note in their lives, but who support the Foundation’s efforts and believe in Memphis music both artistically and as a viable economic engine to move the city forward.
