Social Media Campfire is for and by Social Media Professionals who come together to discuss Social Media. This is a higher level discussion for people who work in or with Social Media. Think about sitting at a campfire where you have natural conversations, sharing stories and enjoy spending time with friends. That is what our Social Media Campfires are all about.
Social Media Campfire is: "Content over Tools", we have a focus on Social Media Strategies, results and how we can achieve them.
Every meeting we have a theme and a guest and we can ask any and all questions about their best practices in social media, their challenges, what tools they use, etc.
This Months topic is: Marketing to Niche Social Groups
From Jay Baer's Convince & Convert Blog: There's More Out There if You Look For It Every day, 22 million Americans eat at McDonalds. But, there are 108 million other people that eat at restaurants each day in America that are NOT McDonalds. A recent feature on CIO.com on "10 of Worlds Strangest Social Networks" gets it all wrong. Somebody's 'strange' social network is someone else's potentially thriving customer community. And when you stick 100% to the Big 4, you miss those opportunities. Sure, the StachePassions social network (for mustache aficionados, natch) is a little unusual on the surface. But, if you think it through, many companies could succeed by participating in this community. Of course facial hair supply. But, what about photographers or digital cameras? What about Baskin Robbins? with a promotion offering free samples (and extra napkins)? There are more than two million specialty communities on the Ning platform alone, giving you ample opportunities to find your fans and customers. This meeting we will discuss niche communities and how to participate in those communities.
