Let's Hike Raven Rock State Park! I haven't been there since last year. And a friend suggested I do another since they are so much fun.
Our day will start at 1pm at the visitors center. We will hike the Cambell Creek loop trail (5 mile loop) out to Lanier Falls. I doubt we can swim in the water so early in the season, but I am betting we can at least cross over to the big rock in the middle of the river and hang out for a while. For those who have never been, Lanier Falls really isn't a falls, but a neat outcrop of rocks that spans a very wide and shallow Cape Fear River.
On our way back, we will likely cross over Cambell Creek and take a "not so often hiked" trail back. After that we will hike out to the Raven Rock over look (2miles round trip).
Here is a link to the park website. Be sure to check out the trail map ahead of time.
The meet spot is at Raven Rock so arrange your carpools ahead of time. It will take a good hour to get there from Raleigh so leave yourself enough time. If you arrive early, you can always check out the really cool visitors center.
