Night at the Theatre: "Jet Blue to Heaven"

SecondStory Repertory is currently producing their 2nd Play Rave, which is original scripts by local playwrights. This evening's staged reading is of JET BLUE TO HEAVEN by Jesse Putnam.

Story Summary: When Tess Carver's Chevy runs head-on into a tractor-trailer she gets a one-way ticket to heaven. But the trip up isn't what she thought it would be: there's no bright light and no welcoming angels – just an airplane cabin occupied by an odd crew of recently deceased souls who each met their fate in strange and tragic ways.

Because of a mistake made by a not-quite-omnipotent God – a “glitch in the system” – Tess soon discovers her time isn't actually up and is granted a return to earth to live out the rest of her days. But before she does, she makes a demand of the almost-mighty that she believes will renew her life's greatest joy – even if it means trading back the gift of life.

Your very own Organizer, Claudette, plays CAL's GOD: The voice of his grandmother – a wise, loving and tough-as-nails sermonizer.

Thanks all who made it out and supporting me and our local theatre in this venture. Hope you enjoyed and found it thought provoking, as a good play should. Too bad I couldn't say hi (until after the Q&A), but we had a couple of rows of Meetup people there - even the managing director noticed all the Meetup folks and was very happy to have the support, too. Until next time...
