Another Night with No Static - Cancelled

  • January 26, 2013 · 9:00 PM

No Static plays Steely Dan once again! This time at Ryles in Inman Square in Cambridge. Listening and dancing to a fantastic band that truly sounds just like Steely Dan is becoming a regular event for Sitz.

From the web site - "For this special show NO STATIC will be presenting a cavalcade of the greatest DAN Hits from four decades of incredible songwriting." It begins at 9:00PM. There is a $12 cover.

Hope to see you for one of their first shows of the year!

Please note, parking can be a bit of a challenge in the area but is available on side streets, and the fun you'll have will be worth it. (smile)

Happy New Year!

    Hi Everyone,

I was at the Ryles last night, also, and asked about getting in later tonight, since I also didn't buy a ticket in advance. I was told not to try until 10:45 p.m. -- after the first set. So if you're not a night owl, it's probably not worth going there tonight. For those who do have tickets, the S&S Restaurant, across from the Ryles, has two small parking lots on Hampshire St. and allows parking for anyone going to the nightclub. You just might want to check in with them and ask if they charge a fee or require you to buy a token. -- Joy02 P.S. I also saw Patsy Hamel last night (see Ron's comment below) and she was really good -- has a great bluesy sound. She'd be a good choice for a spillover event tonight (6 p.m. at Sally O'Brien's, 335 Somerville Ave., Somerville)

    Hi Everyone,

If anyone has a ticket that they can't use tonight please let me know. I would be happy to buy it from you. I'm aware that the show is sold out tonight.

Saturday at Sally O'Brien's on Somerville Ave in Union Square:

I saw Patsy Hamel sing tonight with Calypso Hurricane at Ryles. I can't speak for the other group - no cover, lots of dancing:

Does anyone have a ticket that they might want to sell?

    January 26, 2013

  • Lesley

Stuff happens. Karen, thanks for trying.

It was an honest mistake, clearly it wasn't intensional ... Next time we will just know to get the tickets in advance.

      January 25, 2013

    • Karen

      Thanks, Lesley! Major bummer!

Hi guys, sorry the meetup didn't work out. It is very disappointing when it's your first meetup. Just wanted you to know that I have been to many of Karen's meetups and she has been an extremely conscientious organizer, above and beyond to make people comfortable, Was at the last 2 no static events and others with Karen and she has been fantastic: very organized. SITZ in general is very warm and welcoming. I understand you are upset and I would be too, and next time I'm sure tix will be set aside. There is a group of us who generally go to Karen"s events because she is a sweetheart. Hope to meet you guys at an event. BTW i canceled as was sick and didn't want to hold up a slot . I recovered so signed up for another meetup of dinner and bowling in Milford MA tomorrow night 6:30 and am pretty sure it's still open. A lot of us are carpooling as it's a hike there so that's an option if still open. Feel free to contact me about it if you like. Best, Gail

Thanks, Gail! This is unusual and disappointing for me, too.

Yes I too am very disappointed ..I might go to Chopsticks Restaurant of Leominster Inc
    Chinese Restaurant · Japanese Restaurant
    21 Commercial Rd
    Leominster, MA 01453
The band Windfall is playing, awesome band, no cover and always fun. If you can't find anything else to do ...check it out :)

This was my Firet meet up so I had no idea how this worked. I guess I would assume (I know not good to assume) but if this meetup says it has room for 30 people then arrangements for that would be made...and if we needed to get tickets in advance we would have been told that when we signed up..
I just hung up from them and it IS SOLD out! VERY Disappointing to say the least...seeing how I turned down another event for this.:(
Oh well..lesson learned I guess. If anyone finds out something different please let me know.

Hi - I am sorry for this. In the past when I've run these types of events there has never been a problem with everyone buying a ticket at the door. I had no idea until I sent the email that there may be a big crowd - and no idea that big of a crowd. I myself did not buy a ticket in advance. I hope they will call me back with some better news. Again I apologize.

      January 25, 2013

  • Anna

It says sold out...I am wondering if they put the 30 tickets away for us or what?

    January 25, 2013

    • Karen

There were no tickets put aside. Everyone would get their own. As I said, this is the first time this has happened to me. I guess this is a popular event with many Meetup groups. I did not realize how many!

      January 25, 2013

  • Karen

I have left a message to find out if this is true and if so, if tickets can still be purchased at the door. I am sorry for the confusion! I have run several of these and this has never happened! I will keep everyone posted.

  • Anna

    Hi
I just went on the website to purchase my ticket and it says sold out?.

    January 25, 2013

  • Julie

    Hi all -

I just called Ryles and left a message 'cause ticket prices on the "buy tickets" link is $10, but it's $12 on the calendar of events. Will post again when they get back to me.

    January 25, 2013

  • Anna

Ok I am confused....Are we supposed to by a ticket BEFORE tomorrow night?

    January 25, 2013

    • Karen

Anna - You can do whatever you prefer. Thanks.

      January 25, 2013

  • Julie

I see on Ryles website that you can buy tickets for $10. Is that the same as the $12 cover and since a large crowd is expected should we buy tickets in advance?

    January 24, 2013

    • Karen

I saw $12 last time I looked at the web site, but maybe something changed. You may want to just in case.

Not to worry u will have plenty of friends
    And dancing partners. Alan

    • Karen

Alan - I see you RSVPd on the Social Fun site also. Can you please remove your RSVP here to free up a space for someone on the waitlist? Thank you.

      January 24, 2013

  • Karen

Hi again everyone - Please do not forget to change your RSVP to No if you can't attend so people on the waitlist can come. Thanks! Also, I understand there will be a big crowd so definitely arrive early!
