Social sailing mainly
Thurs 4pm Twilighting from Royal Perth YC Nedlands. 4pm E Freo 6pm RPYC. 8PM BBQ/PARTYING. 11pm return.
Sundays 11am on theRiver Swan or w/e's away Rotto/Rockingham/Wherever.
Crew 3 to 12 less for sailing more for just motoring.
Join an active social group of all ages mainly singles but also couples/families who variously mix different talent levels to social sail, paddle ( canoe on board) swim, bbq and party at RPYC. After a few river trips can go to Rottnest. Split costs for ocean crossing to Rottnest etc.
Own food/drink. BBQ toilet aboard.
All persons are "CREW" . That means equal contribution to the workload of preparation of the yacht, sailing, cooking and clearing up after as well as intermittent maintenance with occasional busy bees mainly at beginning and end of sailing season ie around Sept and April/May. More experienced crew can do more advanced tasks in experienced lesser or sometimes the menial tasks. All efforts made to teach keen novices to sail navigate etc etc. This group is NOT a free ride for someone who wants to sit back and do nothing albeit there is plenty of time during some sailing sessions to do this and/or with boat at anchor/moored. We have a PRIME mooring 90m off shore right next to the (free) hot showers in Longreach Bay Rottnest.
There is also three tenders, a two man, four man and eight man inflatables the latter with a 75hp motor which is a registered craft in its' own right ( as is the 4man with a 4HP ) . This we use at Rottnest and/or occasionally with or without the yacht ( MY KUTI ) on the river/Mandurah canals or elsewhere so not EVERY trip is sailing. Occasionally we only motor MY KUTI for a family friendly day outing usually if so on a Sunday. So, mum's and dad's and younger kids can come on the same. Numbers can be higher for such trips.
We also have a ( carbon fibre ) high tech TRIMARAN which can be skippered/manned by one person only or skipper plus one, two, three or four crew as well. It needs a younger nimble crew and wetsuits of which we have plenty of different sizes.
SO.. TAKE NOTE OF WHICH BOAT IS BEING USED. GENERALLY MY KUTI 35FT CUTTER.
Aquarama Marina is on ....
Riverside Rd East Fremantle ( South of River ) 1.9km upstream of Stirling Bridge 1.8km upstream of The Left Bank Pub and 500m upstream of Irwin Barracks, 1.6km upstream of "The Red Herring" Restaurant The public boat ramp and Zephyr cafe. 200m upstream of Swan Yacht Club and about 1.5km DOWNstream of E Fremantle yacht club ( some people turn up there in error ). It is where the restaurant 'EAT GREEK' is also and where the boats are stacked three high. I trust this is enough info even for the new females.. who always seem to get lost.. in the last 4 yrs only ONE male not found it ok and he was only 700m away! I suggest you might like to print off these directions ( esp women!! ) from your computer.
NEVER NEVER... don't turn up... ( you will be "removed" from this meetup group ) ALWAYS phone me if there is a problem on 0438 520 330. Try and avoid last minute cancellations. PARTICULARLY for weekend trips. A certain crew number maybe req'd and you maybe ruining a trip for other people who have made the effort to come.
Looking forward to meeting new crew members with or without experience.
For more info on the boat, check the photos section of the site!
