Bookworms are reading from:
By: Angel Flores
This Saturday, we'll be reading chapter 1 from Lazarillo de Tormes, published in 1554. The writer is anonymous, but the story is associated with Golden Age of Spanish writers (Mateo Aleman, Cervantes, Quevado). Lazarillo, the main character, is an out and out delinquent; his driving force is hunger. This book is inspired in part by Eramus and his writings on sociology.
What do the Bookworms do?
Bookworms take turns reading paragraphs in Spanish and in English.
After the story is read, bookworms discuss the ideas of the story.
Spanish Stories by: Angel Flores is $12 with shipping and handling; it contains 13 short stories. If you'd like to purchase the book, you're welcome to pay for it online or at the meetup; new books arrive each Saturday.
