Lunch following Socrates Cafe

Lunch specials are $5-8. For our group they are throwing in free Korean pancakes (they're wonderful)!

The food was prepared to perfection! Tasted great, too.

We've also been choosing places that are fairly close to Mama Jean's. In addition to those Jim mentioned, here are a few that i mentioned back in August: Mijuri ($10-20, mostly sushi but some bento boxes at $10), Hemingway's (lunch buffet $10), or Ziggies's (American food, $5-10, plus 10% senior discount every day), Bambu Vietnamese on Battlefield ($8-9), Thai Peppers on Sunshine--opens at noon Sat. ($8-11). I looked into DiGiacinto once but it is not open at lunch on Saturdays. For Italian, Florentina's on Battlefield is open then, but the lunch menu isn't in effect on Saturdays ($10-20; note to Bonnie--they have gluten-free pasta available). As a group we have been to Panera and Tortilleria Perches fairly recently, and another group to which many of us belong has been to Thai Peppers and Gem of India fairly recently. They were all good and I for one would be happy to go back, although I agree that it's fun to try new places. So many great options!

Last night Jinn's (spelling?) was mentioned. Is it close and is it large enough for this group? Have heard of it but know little to nothing about it. ???

Bonnie, If we return to a restaurant because a member missed a lunch, we would be rewarding bad, bad behavior. Ha. Plus I went to Fuji's and we have dozens and dozens of restaurants to choose from.
I suggest Di Giacinto's, Tortilleria Perches, Gem of India, Newks or any Panera as additional choices to fuel this discussion.
Unless a location gets adopted as best in show, and I can't vote for Fuji's for that, I lean towards moving around.

Thoroughly chastised about missing when I was signed up ( :-( ) and had really been looking forward to it. Due to unforeseen last minute circumstances, I couldn't make it. Really felt bad about missing the session and lunch.

Bonnie. You just track me down because I'm buying your lunch! But, you have to be present to win (and there's a 2-drink limit). :+D.

Yeah, Pam! I jumped into this to tease Bonnie and stir up some ideas. I'm great with ANY restaurant and no matter what, I will be a happy participant. I eat oatmeal for breakfast everyday, and it doesn't get much more adventurous as the day progresses, so just about anything is going to be more exciting than my routine!

I'll be happy with any location but prefer seating that promotes conversation and camaraderie . I tossed out Italian, Mexican, Indian and mishmash restaurants that provide parking, could handle a group and seem to "work". However, I'll go wherever . . .

My comment wasn't a serious one...just trying to get a discussion started on some suggestions. Thanks for moving the discussion along.
I'm all for moving around too. I do need to go to places with gluten free options and there are vegans/vegetarians in the group too. I haven't heard of Di Giacinto's. What type of food do they serve? Gem of India is good, and what is Newks?

How about going back to Fuji's again, since I missed the last one? ;-)
