February 2012 meeting -- Tokyo Socrates Cafe

The topic for this month's meetup is "Should businesses have ethics? How can a company be motivated to act ethically?"

As an example of a current issue regarding responsible business practices, you way want to watch this video about manufacturing in China. But the discussion is open to other subjects as well.

As always:

1) We will hold the discussion at Gonpachi from 3:00pm to 5:00pm, then move to Failte for more open discussion afterward.
2) If this is your first time joining us, please note that Meetup's map for Gonpachi is incorrect! The correct location can be seen here on Google Maps. Also, information about Failte can be found at their webpage.
3) Though there is no charge for the meetup, please order at least a drink or a snack at Gonpachi as they have been kind enough to allow us to use their space without any charge.
4) Please keep your RSVP as up-to-date as possible, even if you're updating on the morning of the meeting.
5) Please try to be on time. If you'll be more than 30 minutes late, please consider joining us after we finish around 5:00pm.

Hey Tom, great to see another person who is familiar with Mises. There is a Mises discussion group (Austrian economics) once a month in Ebisu. The discussions are in Japanese and would be more intellectually stimulating for you. If you do attend this event, however, which seems full already, we could have a chat separately with several other of the people in the waiting list, preferably with other knowledgeable people.

Interesting topic, but I think I have too many answers on this one and not enough questions. In other words, the answers seem too obvious to me... It's the tiny fraction of least ethical businessmen who bribe the large majority of cheap politicians to write the laws that basically require business to evolve towards evil.

Anyway, I feel I should apologize for not attending recently, but my social life has improved. If you gave a "Maybe" choice, you wouldn't force me to decide "No" each time.
