Southwest Ohio MarkLogic First Meetup

Welcome to the first Southwest Ohio MarkLogic Meetup.  We hope you can join us for some interesting presentations, opportunities to network with other MarkLogic/XQuery developers, and enjoy some food and drinks.

There will be presentations from MarkLogic, Cengage, and LexisNexis.  The site will be updated as more details become available for each presentation.

MarkLogic story at LexisNexis

Description: A discussion of LexisNexis’s experience in bringing MarkLogic into the environment.

Jeff Seitter is a Lead Enterprise Architect at LexisNexis, a member of Reed Elsevier. LexisNexis is a leading global provider of content-enabled workflow solutions designed specifically for professionals in the legal, risk management, corporate, government, law enforcement, accounting, and academic markets. Jeff holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the Muskingum College, Ohio.

Corona: Managing and querying XML and JSON via REST

Description: This presentation explores the Community-sponsored, open-source "Corona" project. Corona provides a set of REST endpoints to store, retrieve, query, and analyze documents held inside MarkLogic. Corona exposes the vast majority of MarkLogic¹s most popular XML-aware indexes and features, but in a way that lets developers code in whatever language they'd like.

Evan Lenz is Software Developer for the Community team at MarkLogic. He has been a specialist in XML technologies since 1999, having served on the W3C XSL Working Group, written XML-related articles and books (including XSLT 1.0 Pocket Reference), and spoken at numerous conferences.

For the first meetup, I thought this was a great success. We had several people from MarkLogic as well as users from 4 different companies (Lexis, Elsevier, Cengage, and Chemical Abstracts). There was a lot of open discussion on topics and opportunities for networking. The presentations from Cengage, Lexis, and MarkLogic were all extremely good. Everyone was very willing to share their thoughts and ask questions.

I thought there was a great deal of information shared at the meetup. It was good to share the practical experiences and see where others had been and where they're going. Personally, I like that ML is trying to make its personnel accessible to users by encouraging community building.
