Productivity Tech Tips
The tech world can be an overwhelming place. You know that there are 1001 great (and free) tools you can be using to live a more productive life, but you don't know where to start. Let us help you out! At this skillshare we will go in depth to demonstrate many great tools you should be using everyday, including Rapportive (social media Gmail integration), Google docs and forms, Google voice, Jing (video captures), Dropbox and much more. Have a favorite productivity tech tool? Email it to robbie AT sojust DOT org.

ABOUT OUR PRESENTERS
Jess Faulk has been talking tech for over 20 years. Her very first computer (not counting her Atari) was a hand-me-down black and white Macintosh Classic. However, it was her Macintosh Performa that really made her fall in love with all of the possibilities that computers and the budding internet could bring into our lives. Since then she has developed an intense curiosity for new technology and how to make it useful in our day to day lives. Jess also has a strong interest in design, and tries to find ways to wed her love for graphics and tech (especially in designing infographics). Read Jess' blog at www.jessfaulk.com.

Robbie Samuels is often asked how he manages to do so much and still sleep. These tips are the answer. His non-stop schedule includes running 2 events a month for Socializing for Justice, 23 events a year for Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders and 1-4 trainings a month "on the side". No wonder Boston City Council named his birthday "Robbie Samuels Day" in 2011! His very first computer was a Commodore 64 when he was in 3rd grade and he was hooked. Some thought he'd "go into computers", but instead he uses technology to enhance his life, increase his productivity and engage with his community. Learn more about his trainings, including: Art of the Schmooze, Fundraising: Getting Past the Fear of Asking, Suicide Prevention Training for Community Leaders, at www.robbiesamuels.com.

DIRECTIONS - The NonProfit Center is located one block from South Station at 89 South Street. The Center is physically accessible through the main lobby.

Robbie and Jessica went over a lot of apps and online tools that I did not know about, so it was really great to get exposure to them and to also be able to vote on the tools we wanted to learn more about. There was a lot to cover so it did feel a bit overwhelming at times--I already knew about a couple of tools, like Google Docs, for example, so that made processing information more manageable. Jing was really cool--I do not currently have any use for it but even for helping older adults with tasks like attaching files to emails, it could be very useful.

These tips were very useful. I've already incorporated one into my routine, and I'm going to try out some more very soon.

I would have liked it more, if I didn't get wrapped up in family sh-tuff.

The tips were extremely practical and I'm going to jump on half of them very soon. The leaders were very informed and their presentation went smoothly.
