The Golden Ring is the name given to the chain of ancient towns lying to the north and east of Moscow. These towns contain a collection of architectural masterpieces, set in the charming landscape of central Russia. The Golden Ring is also an opportunity to get acquainted with life of the Russian provinces, unhurried and calm, miles away from the hassle and bustle of the big cities. In one action packed week take the opportunity to see all major treasures of fascinating Moscow and beautiful St. Petersburg together with the most beautiful towns of the Golden Ring. This has long been the most popular tourist route through the Russian provinces.
Day 1 – Tuesday 21 August – arrive Moscow overnight
Day 2.Wednesday 22 August -The group will be picked up from the hotel in Moscow in the morning. Transfer to Vladimir. Vladimir city tour: Dormition cathedral (entrance), St. Demetrius cathedral (entrance), Golden Gates. Bogolyubobo tour: Bogolyubovsky monastery, Intercession church on the Nerl river. Transfer to Suzdal.- Overnight
Day 3.–Thursday 23 August -Continental breakfast. Suzdal city tour: Kremlin (grounds), Cross-vaulted chambre (entrance), the monastery of Our Saviour and St.Euthimius (chance to enjoy live bell music), Transfiguration cathedral (entrance), museum of wooden architecture (entrance), the convent of Intercession. Transfer to Kostroma. . Kostroma city tour: Resurrection church on the Debra river, Theophany monastery. St.Hipatius monastery with Trinity cathedral. Overnight.
Day 4.–Friday 24 August-Buffet breakfast. Transfer to Yaroslavl. Yaroslavl city tour: Transfiguration monastery, the Prophet Elijah church. Free time (optional the Volga river motorboat tour is recommended in summer). Overnight.
Day 5.–Saturday 25 August- Buffet breakfast. Transfer to Rostov. Rostov Kremlin tour. Photostop at Pereslavl-Zalessky.Transfer to Moscow.

Day 8 and 9- St Petersburg
Saint Petersburgis Russia's second largest city, with a population of 4.7 million perched at the eastern tip of of the Baltic Sea and the Neva River. The city was formerly known as Petrograd , and later Leningrad. This is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful places on earth, and virtually any building in the large historic center, threaded with canals dotted with baroque bridges, can be considered an attraction—and indeed, it is a UNESCO World Heritage site. This is a magical city, with a long list of major attractions. Its Hermitage Museum, housed in the Winter Palace of the Romanov Dynasty, is both one of the world's greatest and oldest collections of art, treasure, and antiquities, and one of its most beautiful buildings.
Day 10 – Thurday 30th August – leave St. Petersburg for departure back to London
Total price of trip will be £[masked] and this will include return flights from Heathrow and sharing accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis and also train ticket from Moscow to St Petersburg. A valid visa is required for Russia and we can apply as a group 6 weeks before the trip. (cost of visa not included in price).
