Explore Sandy Hook

Sandy Hook National Recreation Area has lots of things to photograph, even at this time of year. The beach and shore are cool and there are some good shot to be made but I really like the old, deteriorating buildings of Fort Hancock and the old mortar embankments. Plus the cool lighthouse. If we are lucky, we can shoot a nice sunset over the bay. There is plenty to explore and we can meet at the lighthouse and either stay together or go our separate ways. If you want to reconvene to learn how to shoot spectacular sunsets, meet me at the lighthouse at 4:45 p.m., sunset is at 5:15 p.m. and the color will stay great until almost 6 p.m.

There are restrooms and buildings open, so if you get chilly, you can go inside. You can even go up in the lighthouse.

Except for the bitter cold, the meet was awesome. We should have one in Spring/Summer.

We'll do it again, but I'll skip the crowds!!! This new little layer of snow should make everything look fresh, there will be good photos. See you winter birds there.

Loren / NanceN just drive into the park you don't need to stop at the toll booths this time of year. keep going you will past a big blue restaurant, welcome center then thru another guard shack, keep going then you will round a bend see a bunch of old brown house's. bear to the right at fork in road, follow that road about 1/8 mile lighthouse will be dead in front of you. good luck and see you there

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
