Trail work day

Trail Work Crew, SUNDAY, September 8th, 9:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. (Note: We will not be meeting on Labor Day Weekend, but the Sunday after.)
Once a month (usually the first Sunday), as the weather permits, we build new, or reroute or repair existing, hiking trails throughout the South Mountain Reservation following sustainable trail guidelines. Trail building is very satisfying, but can be hard work. We use hand tools such as picks and adzes to create and shape the trail tread. Wear shoes with solid soles and long pants. You provide the strong back. We provide gloves, a snack, water and directions. Ages 15 and above. If there are questions, call John Verzani [masked]), or Dennis Percher [masked]).

On September 8th, we will be continuing work on a connecting trail near the Orange Reservoir, part of the planned Reservoir Zoo Loop. Meet near the gate entrance to the reservoir on the west side of the Turtleback Zoo parking lot.

Thanks to all who came out. We had a great time and got quite a bit done on the reservoir-zoo loop. Hopefully we can finish this up next time round.

I am looking forward to doing some volunteer work as well as enjoy nature- bird watching, hiking, and learning about plants and flowers indigenous to the region

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
