This meditation technique is taught as a way to attain spiritual awareness through meditation on the inner Light and Sound and is practiced by people of many religions, faiths and belief systems.
The word science is used because the belief is, within you is the "science lab" in which you conduct this "science experiment." The Science of Spirituality (S.O.S.) teaches a meditation process called Meditation for Spiritual Awareness. It's free and anyone can practice it. It should be noted, this is a voluntary meditation. One stays in their social or religious traditions to practice this meditation. It needs to also be noted, this is a purely spiritual meditation technique. This means Meditation for Spiritual Awareness is not taught, for example, for stress-relief. It's taught for self-realization.
However, while the main purpose of this meditation technique is purely spiritual, the practice has many great benefits. If you want to try this meditation technique, you can start meditating by setting a time to meditate, preferably a time when you are very alert. At that time, sit in a comfortable chair. Get into a position, one where you won't move, and gently close your eyes. Keep your eyes horizontal and look straight ahead. To calm the mind, you repeat any name of God that is acceptable to you. Repeat that word. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Continue to repeat that name until you are done meditating. Repeating this name keeps the mind focused on meditating.
