We are really happy to host our very own mindfulness meditation evening at SPIRIT IN THE CITY with the well regarded teacher Mary O’Callaghan.
EMBRACING THE PRESENT MOMENT
We live in a frantic world with a ‘to-do’ list that never seems complete. It is not surprising that in the midst of such busyness we feel a sense of disconnection from both ourselves and the world around us. Mindfulness is a practice that helps us come back to the present moment and engage more whole-heartedly with whatever we encounter within and without. It helps us as well to tap into the innate resources that reside within us to nurture greater calm and ease. Also, an impressive body of reliable research now attests to the benefits of mindfulness for conditions such as stress, anxiety, depression and a host of other challenging conditions. During this evening we will explore both the theoretical and practical aspects of mindfulness based approaches.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Mary O’Callaghan, MA (Jungian psychology), is an accredited psychotherapist who has also been exploring meditation practices for over thirty years. During this time she spent eight years living as a Buddhist nun and underwent intensive training in Eastern Philosophy and meditation practices. She integrates into her courses what she finds most helpful in eastern and western approaches.
As always we will begin with a drumming journey, break for tea and cakes and finish with a discussion group.
We look forward to seeing you there!
***There will be a follow up course in Dunderry Park on this topic and practice from the 31st May – 2nd June. Contact the SPIRIT IN THE CITY team for more details.***
Venue opens at 7pm for tea and biscuits, with the talk starting at 7.30pm. Free Parking is available at the Lantern Centre.
