Leaf Peep

From what I read, it'll be peak leaf color between mid-late Oct. Let's go shoot some fall foliage.

As far as location... While Batso and some of the other locations suggested are nice, I'm purposely picking something centrally located.  I can't switch to Sun for the Batso Festival because I have a prior commitment, but hopefully other members decide to go own their own.

We'll be meeting at Croft Farms (off Bortons Mill Rd in Cherry Hill... we'll actually meet by the pavilion between the two playgrounds.  We're meeting here because it's easy to park and find... we can always continue to Hopkins pond afterwards, but finding it might be harder for some people.

It was interesting. I have never participated in anything like that before. It made think about a theme and take an artistic view of even the small things.

I was there today (Croft Farms), and everything is still pretty green. There were some reds and yellows, but nothing really stood out.

Ok. Sounds good. Looks like I'm busy Saturday...something came up...

      October 15, 2013

Mark, I hope you don't mind that I invited the Batso crowd to email me. Figured we can work out the details that way.

Batsto on Sunday sounds good to me. Fall colors and festival. You get to choose what to shoot or shoot both.
Saturday my son's family is going to be here and wants me to take some family shots so Sat is out for me

I was told they've installed a number of artificial plant islands in the water at Hopkins pond with PVC pipes etc - pretty ugly
I'll check it out and let you know

    1 · October 12, 2013

    • Mark

That would make the decision pretty easy. Let me know what you find out.

Scouted the pond today and it still gets my vote as a good place to shoot - assuming we get good color. In my opinion, it would be feasible to do both Croft Farm and Hopkins Pond on the same day. If we have the luxury of scouting reports, maybe we choose from among the locations everyone has listed based on whichever site has the best color.

Right now I'm leaning Croft Farm or Hopkins Pond... I don't want Redbank Battlefield because I want us surrounded by trees, with little or no man made subjects. We'll decide in the next few days.

    October 8, 2013

  • John

If we decide to stay local, (well....local for some of us) Hopkins Pond, in Haddonfield, always has terrific color; plus you can never go wrong combining fall foliage and water. It's a very small pond, so if you haven't heard of it, or visited, you can go to my flickr site, navigate to SETS and click on AUTUMN, to see some examples of fall foliage images created there. www.flickr.com/photos/giatropoulos
Also it is only about a mile or so from Croft Farms (mentioned below), and from one of the Camden County Parks, Maria Barnaby Greenwald Memorial Park

Hopkins Pond is a great location. Maybe we can do two days, one at each location

Red Bank Battlefiled National Park, NJ It is the site of
the Hessian War and sits on the Delaware River. It faces
the Philadelphia Naval Yard, people fly kites, picnic area,
statues and old cannons. Planes coming in and out from the Philadelphia Airport, bridges and boaters, foliage and BATHROOMS! lol AND if we get to bored, Riverwinds is down
the street with more waterfront and scenery.
