geomapping technology and New Orleans @ Netsquarred New Orleans - 11/11/08

Netsquared New Orleans is an affiliate of Netsquared, a national non-profit organization whose mission is to promote social change via web 2.0. One of our members, Alan Gutierrez recently won a national mashup competition that used geomapping technology and New Orleans public records to track home demolitions and the recovery effort in New Orleans and sheds light on how government funding for demolitions was being used for other purposes than to target the intended neighborhoods. He partnered with Andrew Turner who is a leading voice in the emerging field of neogeography and who authored the book, "Introduction to Neogeography." Mr. Turner will be joining us fresh from a lecture in London and will talk about the future of geomapping and looking beyond Google Maps.

The event will take place:
Tuesday, November 11, 2008
6:00pm - 9:00PM
The Bridge Lounge
1201 Magazine St.
