Monthly Meeting - Security & The Thesis Framework

Andrew Behla will discuss his experiences of being hacked countless times, and what he's learned along the way to prepare when disaster strikes. He will cover backing up and restoring a WordPress site, along with plugins and solutions to prevent hacking from occurring. Finally he will discuss dedicated WordPress hosting and why you might consider a more robust solution to protect your site.

Andrew Behla is from Behla Design + Web Development.

Roy Hildestad - The Thesis Framework - A Nuts and Bolts Intro - Beginner

If you've ever wondered what the Thesis Framework is, and if you should be using a framework for your Wordpress site development, this presentation is for you.

The presentation will show you the main screens and functions of Thesis and explain how each is intended to help you as a Wordpress developer.

As a demonstration, Roy will build a simple 'responsive' theme and home page in the presentation.

This presentation will tell you all you need to know to decide if Thesis is a good choice for your projects.

And for non-techies, HTML and CSS will be discussed, but at a very accessible level.

I'm happy to offer WordPress Happiness advice before sessions and during breaks, if there is demand.

So happy to hear about future meetups in the Camarillo/Thousand Oaks area. I've been wanting to attend meetups, but I'm in Thousand Oaks, and my schedule makes it virtually impossible to get to Ventura on time.

Glad to hear that will benefit at least one person :).

Remember that we always have a break between presentation for people to sneak in or out. You're welcome come in late if you can't make it in time. Also the first presentation does not start until 7:00 so you can skip the pizza and chit chat too. Hope to see you soon at a meetup.
