SCAPA Dinner, Meeting & Presentation

Join us for the monthly gathering of the South County Airport Pilots Association. We are a friendly and diverse group of pilots and aviation enthusiasts, and guests are welcome! This month we start gathering at 5:30 PM, serve dinner* at 6:20 PM, and will start two shorter-length presentations starting at 7:15 PM.

Meet the Mechanic - Magnum Aviation, presented by Lupe Gonzalez, Director of Maintenance, and Martin Irwin, General Manager

Meet the men who are driving maintenance at Magnum Aviation, Lupe Gonzalez, Director of Maintenance, and Martin Irwin, General Manager. They’ll describe in what direction they are taking the maintenance operation and how you can benefit from it. You’ll get a chance to ask them any maintenance questions you have about their operation or your plane.

About the speakers:

Lupe Gonzalez is a private pilot, A&P with IA, and the Director of Maintenance at Magnum Aviation. He graduated from Gavilan’s Aviation program. Lupe was the Director of Maintenance for 7 years at the American School of Aviation at Reid Hilliview, where he not only maintained the planes but also checked out new instructors in teaching competence and maintenance savvy. Lupe has also worked on the central coast in aviation maintenance at several locations, working on the entire Piper line, as well as Cessnas, Mooneys and Bonanzas.

Martin Irwin spent ten years in the army working in electronics communications repair. After the army he went back to school to study mechanical engineering, got married, and worked in facility management. Martin aims to expand the number of planes maintained by Magnum Aviation.

Wings of History Open House: SCAPA Ramp Ops, presented by Gene Kindred, SCAPA

SCAPA's own Gene Kindred will give us an update on planning for the Wings of History Open House, highlighting the role SCAPA plays in this event and giving members an opportunity to participate in a manner of their choosing. The Open House is a wonderful interest and support builder for our community, and we help by displaying an interesting cross-section of what’s flying in the skies of South County and keeping the public and planes safe from harm. Come see what is planned for this year and learn about some tasty benefits for those who participate.
