PLEASE NOTE VENUE CHANGE

Join the South Florida Vegetarians and Vegans for a Thanksgiving potluck in the park. Come out and enjoy delicious cruelty-free food and good conversation. Feel free to invite others !

In order to accommodate both vegetarians and vegans, please bring a dish that contains no animal products (eggs, milk, butter, cheese, honey or any kind of meat). Feel free to email or call me for ideas or visit vegweb.com for recipes !

This event is in memory of our former member Paul who passed away February 2006 after a long, ongoing battle with cancer. Paul was a key participant at the 2005 Thanksgiving Feast and proposed making it an annual event.

A few notes about our new venue:

* the event will be held in Pavilion #6
* gate fee is $1 per person (ages 6 and up)
* we must be out by 5pm so make sure to arrive early !
* NO pets, alcohol, gas grills or amplified music allowed

If possible, please bring your own plates and utensils in order to have a more environmentally friendly feast.

Donations to help cover the pavilion cost will be kindly accepted.

Let everyone know what you're bringing in your RSVP comments.

I hope to see everyone there !

Just to make it clear.. the person that brought the rice cheese (with casein) made an innocent mistake.. let's not be mean to anyone..

We had a really good time, nice people- new and old, weather held out and delicious food. The time just flew by, didn't even get to talk to everyone I wanted to. Already looking forward to the next meetup Thanks Liz for another great event

It was such a great pleasure meeting all of you loving , kind people. What a pleasure to go somewhere and not worry what to put in your mouth. All of you are great chefs and I am begging for some recipes. :) Thank you for making my Thanksgiving a memorable one. Your new friend, Marshall Zale

I totally understand about the pet situation. I really wanted to bring my dog along, but I had a very hard time finding a location this year. This was the nicest one I found that wasn't closed or booked solid. Hopefully next year we will be able to get a spot at Plantation Heritage again where pets are always allowed !

Who attended?

    •  There was a nice turnout, a gppd variety of food (unfortunately some with CHEESE, in spite of Liz's very clear request to bring only vegan food).

This was a very special event! My baby Victoria spent her first Thanksgiving in a peaceful environment giving thanks with a group of people that care about the earth, the animals and also their health.. and that's how we plan to raise Vicky! I also saw old friends, tried all the yummy food and had fun! Thanks Liz one more time for the great event and even though people weren't too happy for the fact that we couldn't bring our pets, this park kept everybody close together, with enough tables for everyone to seat and TALK!!! ;)
    •  Pretty good, thanks. Awesome food. Count me in for more foody events :)
