Now into it's third year, The Bedford pub in Balham is again hosting the London Folkfest - Bringing you the best in contemporary and traditional folk, acoustic and roots music with over 30 acts across three stages for 3 days of amazing music.
I like the sound of the bands on the Friday night - they seem to be a bit more viby than the slightly more laid back sounds of the Saturday line-up, so let's start the weekend off well and get together for some 'Summer sounds and socialising'!
You need to buy your own ticket to this event
Tickets cost £12 and can be purchased from the Folkfest website http://www.thelondonfolkfest.com/ or from http://billetto.co.uk/en/events/thelondonfolkfest/tickets. There is no guarantee there will be tickets (@£15) available on the night, so please book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment! Sunday is already sold out.
Music starts from 7.30pm (tbc). We will start meeting from 6 onward (arrive when you can), so we can hopefully get seats together and socialise before enjoying the sounds.
The Bedford does serve food.
The website http://www.thelondonfolkfest.com/ also has a list of performers for the Friday, with links to their own sites if you'd like to suss out their sounds. Lineup on the main stage is:
MONSTER CEILIDH BAND
ROCK THE HOUSE! COMPETITION WINNER
More info also available on their Facebook page
Most of the festival is indoors - so it won't be affected by the untrustworthy British weather.
This group has a no-show policy as below:
In order to provide a place for all interested members & to be fair to the hosts & to the venues, there is a no show rule for our meetups:
- if you have RSVP'd yes and don't show up or
- if you change your RSVP from yes to no within 12 hours before the meetup takes place
you get 1 no-show point. Once you have reached 3 points within one year the meetup organisers have the right to exclude you from the group, should they choose to do so.
Also, if you are a no-show to an event then the host of that event has the choice to exclude you from their future events if they wish; hosts are not paid for their time, they give up their own time to organise & hosts events so it is extremely frustrating when there are no shows.
This rule is here so everyone can enjoy the events - you and the hosts - it's common courtesy to let hosts know if you can't make an event - so please ensure you keep your RSVP up to date.
