  • This location is shown only to members

Join me at the beautiful Grove pub in Balham (between Balham & Clapham South tube stations) for an evening of  FREE cinema and FREE popcorn.

Located in their main restaurant area, they convert the whole place into a cinema screening area with a big screen.

The plan:

Lets Meet at 7pm for drinks/A quick bite to eat for the hungry ones & a bit of socialising before the free movie with popcorn at 8pm - 2 Guns

The Film: 2 Guns

109 min  -Action, Comedy, Crime

Directed by Baltasar Kormákur. Starring Denzel Washington, Mark Wahlberg, Paula Patton, Bill Paxton.

For the past 12 months, DEA agent Bobby Trench and U.S. naval intelligence officer Marcus Stigman have been reluctantly attached at the hip. Working undercover as members of a narcotics syndicate, each man distrusts his partner as much as the criminals they have both been tasked to take down.  When their attempt to infiltrate a Mexican drug cartel and recover millions goes haywire, Trench and Stigman are suddenly disavowed by their superiors. Now that everyone wants them in jail or in the ground, the only person they can count on is the other. Unfortunately for their pursuers, when good guys spend years pretending to be bad, they pick up a few tricks along the way.

Food and drinks available all evening; NOT FREE of course!

Anyone fancy going to the Gorringe pub in Tooting tonight to see (see again) the movie Now your See me - it's free screening and a really big screen and starts at 8.30? Michele

Hi Michele. I saw this at the cinema and enjoyed it. I recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it already. Can't make it tonight unfortunately as I play badminton on Thursday nights. Have fun if you go x

Since you girls are all perving over the guys in the film, I just have to say that Paula Patton was well worth the watch ;-)

She's sort of sexy, but her acting skills are very poor. And she most definitely didn't deserve to work alongside my Mark. I'm not jealous...I promise!

I believe you Onna lol. And I am absolutely not jealous that Denzel got to have Paula sitting on him in just her pants lol. As for the acting, the role was so minor that it didn't really require much acting, just someone who could look good with no clothes on. Not exactly the most feminist film :-/

Thanks for everyone that attended. It was really great to see you all. I liked the movie enough but it was forgettable. What made it such a fantastic evening was the pre-movie and post-movie socialising - so much fun, so much banter. The walk home with a few of you was simply hilarious- my jaws ached from laughing so much! Special thanks must go to Summer for his kindness and generosity in bringing us some lovely snacks to eat alongside the free popcorn supplied by the Grove.

Any film with Mark Wahlberg in it is always worth the watch :-)

Good to see Mark and Denzel, but personally - I would have to go for James Marsden. I did not know he was in the movie, so he was a very, very pleasant surprise!

I have to say James looked rather rough in this film (suppose that's because of the character he's playing), I much preferred him in Hairspray, along with Zac Efron. Mighty fine boys!
