Movie: Anna Karenina (& Drinks/Dinner):The Long Room Bar (Tooting)

The Long Room Bar is a nice bar in Tooting Broadway & they do FREE movie screenings on Monday evenings.

The movie is shown in their back room on a large white screen & they have comfy leather sofas and coffee tables so we can take drinks/dinner into the room where they show the movie.

It's not a cinema experience but it's still a nice way to watch a movie - and it's free - so why not give it a try.

We can meet from 7.15pm - for drinks/dinner and the movie will be screened at 8pm.

There's a map on the bottom of the above link.  The nearest tube is Tooting Broadway - come out of the tube station and turn right (ie away from the main traffic junction) - the pub is on a corner on the same side of the street as the tube station; it's a short walk from the tube - note it's on Mitcham Road - not the High Street.

About the film (running time 129 mins):

Set in late-19th-century Russia high-society, the aristocrat Anna Karenina enters into a life-changing affair with the affluent Count Vronsky.

Director:

Joe Wright

Writers: Tom Stoppard (screenplay)Leo Tolstoy (novel) Stars: Keira KnightleyJude LawAaron Taylor-Johnson

We have a no-show policy as below:

http://www.meetup.com/southlondonsocial/pages/No_Show_Rule/

In order to provide a place for all interested members & to be fair to the hosts & to the venues, there is a no show rule for our meetups:

- if you have RSVP'd yes and don't show up or

- if you change your RSVP from yes to no within 12 hours before the meetup takes place

you get 1 no-show point. Once you have reached 3 points within one year the meetup organisers have the right to exclude you from the group, should they choose to do so.

Also, if you are a no-show to an event then the host of that event has the choice to exclude you from their future events if they wish; hosts are not paid for their time, they give up their own time to organise & hosts events so it is extremely frustrating when there are no shows.

This rule is here so everyone can enjoy the events -  you and the hosts - it's common courtesy to let hosts know if you can't make an event - so please ensure you keep your RSVP up to date.

Wasn't sure I'd like the film, but I did enjoy it. Those that came were nice & friendly and a few of us stayed on for drinks after the movie. Was an enjoyable evening.
Those of you who dropped out at the 11th hour have been marked as no shows, as per our no show policy.

I'm not sure what I'll be wearing later as yet - jeans & a jumper plus I'll wear a blue leopard print scarf/wrap type thing- so look out for that! I'm short with dark hair that I'll have pulled up into a bun today. I'll sit either at the bar or at a table near the bar - I'll be there from[masked] then I'll be in the back room.
    See you soon!

As the meetup is tomorrow, if you can no longer make it please update ur RSVP asap; don't forget we have a no-show policy.
As it's a free event the bar won't allow me to reserve seats - everyone will fit/get in - but if you want to sit on the sofas rather than bar chairs then you need to be there by 7.40 really - I'm intending to go into the back room by 7.30 so I can try and get a seat near the front.
I suggest you aim to join me between[masked] so we can nab the sofas & be sat near each other.
It's not a huge room, so don't worry if you can't join until after 7.30pm, but do try to be there by 7.30 if possible.
I'll post a msg tomorrow to say what I'm wearing, to make me easy to spot!
If you can't find me once I'm in the back room then just call out my name!

It's definitely showing on Monday 18th - as I was told in person by the bar staff plus it's already listed on their website.
I hope those of you that wanted to go & see it last month can make the revised date
