To communicate and connect with people from Spanish-speaking countries.
My mother is from El Salvador. I grew up hearing Spanish around the house, but have really struggled to learn on my own at the university level and at Spanish schools in Guatemala. My first stay in Guatemala was for 3 weeks about 10 years ago, and just recently I studied for a month in June but stayed there for about a total of 2 months. I am more or less conversationally fluent but my grammar is limited. I also speak French, so have had some trouble with mixing up the languages, which is why I want to continually practice my Spanish. I can usually understand most of a conversation in Spanish.
I am originally from Ohio but moved to New Orleans to do a creative writing program at UNO. I also do life-coaching and social justice work.
