Free Spanish Language plays at IndyFringe Theatre

Free performance @ IndyFringe Theatre, 719E St Clair Street, Indianapolis, 46202
Presented by Grupo de Teatro, IU, Bloomington

Transformaciones (Transformations), consists of three plays that portray unexpected changes in characters' lives through fantasy and imagination. "Ventanilla de patentes" ("Patenting Destiny: A Tale of Two Shoes"), a 2008 play by Spanish playwright Charo González Casas, introduces an inventor who has created shoes that can lead the wearer to his/her destiny, although with unforeseen consequences. In his 1956 play, "Historia del hombre que se convirtió en perro" ("The Man Who Turned into a Dog"), Osvaldo Dragún criticizes the economic conditions in his native country of Argentina; the unemployed protagonist is forced to accept a job as a guard dog for want of better options. Finally, Spanish playwright José Cedena satirizes e-relationships in "Novios de Internet" ("Internet Sweethearts", 2006), as his characters' on-line identities do not correspond to reality. Join us as the vicissitudes of fate, exterior circumstance, and personal choice transform lives and change futures.
