Create and Deliver Your First 5 Minute Speech

  • May 11, 2011 · 7:00 PM
  • Jason's House

Let me ask you a few questions...

  • Does the idea of getting up in front of others fill you with fear, but you know you want to get past it and learn how to do it anyway?
  • Do you want to improve your public speaking, but you're not sure how to get started or what to do first?
  • Do you have some life experience and wisdom to share with others, and you'd like a place to learn how to do that as well as a platform to practice doing it?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you're going to love our next meetup. In this fun, interactive event, you'll stretch yourself as you learn how to craft a kick butt 5-minute speech from scratch.

It's a lot easier and faster than you think, especially when you have an easy-to-follow formula for speech creation (which I will provide for you). Believe it or not, you'll have your speech completely done in only 10 short minutes. We'll work together to sharpen our skills and support each other in being better communicators.

Plus, in order to help you improve as fast as possible, I will record your speech with a high-quality camera and microphone so you can review it at home. You can take this video and post it on Youtube, Facebook, discussion forums, put it on DVD and send it to your family and friends... whatever you want. It's a great way to share your life lessons with others, and it helps others get to know you. Plus, you can show the video to other more experienced speakers and get some extremely valuable feedback if you want.

Regardless of whether you do anything with your video or not, this is a fun and engaging event that will transform you into a much better speaker in just two short hours. Not only will you walk away with a video of your speech, but you'll also walk away with more confidence and skill in front of an audience, and that will stay with you for the rest of your life.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

*************************************************

This event is going to be at my home in Lower Allston, right near Harvard Stadium. It's very easy to get to both by car and public transportation. Directions will be emailed to you. We will start the event promptly at 7:00 and run until 9:00. Please plan on arriving by 6:45pm so you have time to settle in and meet the other guests. You never know who you'll meet that can become a new friend and add a lot of value to your life.

The event is limited to the first 7 people (including me) due to the size limitations of my home. if you'd like to join us, then here's what I recommend:

#1 - Check your calendar right now, and see if you have Wednesday May 11th available.

#2 - If you have that evening free, go ahead and RSVP for this event right now. Trust me, it's going to fill up fast.

#3 - Write it in your calendar so you remember to attend, and please arrive by 6:45pm for registration and personal networking.

We will start promptly at 7:00pm. The cost of the event is only $20, which is a bargain for the quality of training that you'll be getting. Think about it... what else do you spend $20 that makes no difference in your ability to speak whatsoever? I promise that this will be well worth your time.

Plus, keep in mind that I'm going to be using semi-professional equipment to record your speech, so that alone is worth way more than the small investment. You're going to receive a very high-quality video of your speech, and that will help you improve very rapidly.

Please remember to bring:

  • $20 cash
  • A pen
  • A great attitude
  • And a willingness to learn fun, new things.

I'm looking forward to seeing you there.

Warmly,

Jason

P.S. - Take down my cell number in case you have any questions about the event or if you get lost. My place is extremely easy to find, so you should have no problems, but just in case, my cell is:[masked]

Awesome as usual. I often feel uncomfortable about stretching myself out of my normal comfort zone when it comes to public speaking. I know if I stay in the relm of education that I'm good. But this meet-up, I wanted to talk about something else that I was equally passionate about but less familiar with the content. Jason and his format provided a supportive environment where I could let myself explore a little bit.

Jason puts on a great event with clear structure, plenty of helpful suggestions and clear but gentle feedback. I really appreciated the calm and unruffled way that he responded to several unpredictable challenges that came up during the session.

Hi Mark. Take the red line to Harvard Square and jump on the 66 bus and have it drop you off at Western Ave. I'll send out an email with more info later today.
