Freedom Trail: Lion's Park (Tallmadge) r/t Tannery Park (Kent) - 11.0 Miles

Ride Name: Cycling from the Circle City to the Tree City
Trail: Freedom Trail - Lion's Park (Tallmadge) - Tannery Park (Kent)
Rating: Intermediate
Ride Type: Out and Back
Distance: 11.0 miles roundtrip

You start your ride in Lion’s Park (Northwest Avenue entrance) in Tallmadge on the Metro Parks Freedom Trail, the newest bike trail in the Akron area. Turning left from the trailhead, follow the shaded trail towards Kent. Crossing Howe Road and cycling over South River Road, you arrive at the trail end at Middlebury Road in Kent.

Turning left onto Middlebury, you cycle down the hill and turn onto the Portage Bike and Hike. You follow the trail along the Cuyahoga River to its end in at Tannery Park where you turn your bike and cycle back to Tallmadge.

Out and back rides are designed with the intermediate and advanced cyclist in mind. These rides cycle out of a trailhead to a set destination, typically 8-10 miles away. After a break, the riders cycle back to the departure trailhead.

Tonight’s ride travels at 10-12 mph and typically takes 2 hours including photo-ops and rest stops. The ride is rated for leisure cyclists who enjoy cycling 10-12 mph on flat trails with an occasional hill or elevation gain. The trail surface is mixed with areas of both asphalt and packed limestone. It is relatively flat with some moderate elevation changes. The ride should be a comfortable ride for the intermediate cyclist.

This ride is on the calendar of the Spin-off Cyclists . We encourage you to join us on this and other rides. We are a group of cyclists of all ages and abilities who cycle the trails of Northeast Ohio and surrounding areas for fun, health and friendship.

This trail is in my backyard. It's great to share this gem with riders new to the area. Can't think of a better way to start the day.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
