Metroparks Emerald Necklace Photo Tour: Strongsville - Rocky River - 35.0 Miles

Ride Name: Emerald Necklace Photo Bike Tour
Trail: Cleveland Metroparks All-purpose Trail: Bonnie Park Picnic Area to Rocky River Marina
Latitude[masked] Longitude [masked]
Rating: Advanced
Ride Type: Out and Back
Distance: 35.0 miles roundtrip

Spin-offs member Eric is hosting this ride on the Cleveland Metroparks All-purpose Trail from Strongsville to the Rocky River Marina. It is a beautiful ride through Cleveland’s western Emerald Necklace.

We’ll meet at the Bonnie Picnic Area Parking Lot in Strongsville, located about a mile south of the Ohio Turnpike. Wheels down time is 10am so please plan to arrive about 9:45am. We’ll ride north through the Emerald Necklace and stop at various places to take pictures. Be sure to bring a lock because we’ll have to leave the bicycles behind at a few of the locations.

This is a 35 mile trip, and there will be traffic (both pedestrian & street) and plenty of hills. Because of this the rating of the ride is “expert” despite the slow pace. We’ll turn around at the Rocky River Marina, or if the group is up to it we can ride to the Lakewood Park for a view of downtown Cleveland.

Directions to the Trailhead:
From Akron
• Take I-80 west towards Toledo
• Exit 161 Take Pearl Rd (Rt.42) South Ramp far right
• Turn left onto Pearl Rd at the light –go ¼ mile
• Turn left onto Valley Parkway –go ¼ mile
• Turn Right onto Albion Rd – we’ll meet in the first parking lot on the right hand side

Out and back rides are designed with the intermediate and advanced cyclist in mind. These rides cycle out of a trailhead to a set destination, typically 8-10 miles away. After a break, the riders cycle back to the departure trailhead.

This ride is rated as advanced, as it is a longer ride for the recreational cyclist. Cyclists travel at a pace of 11-13 mph. The ride traverse variable terrain with easy grades with a few short climbs. Distance is usually 15-30 miles. Regroups are common but at the discretion of the ride leader. Rest stops taken as needed.

This ride is on the calendar of the Spin-off Cyclists . We encourage you to join us on this and other rides. We are a group of cyclists of all ages and abilities who cycle the trails of Northeast Ohio and surrounding areas for fun, health and friendship.

Sorry. I can not attend. I am running a 5K at this same time. I am sure Ken will lead the ride.

10:00 am is the correct start time. Tom used the description from last year and forgot to update it.

I am confused about the starting time. Is it 10? Or 9?
