Pedal, Paddle: Towpath: Ernie's Bike Shop to Canal Fulton - 10.1 Miles

Ride Name: 20 - Pedal, Paddle
Trail: Towpath Trail: Ernie's Bike Shop to Canal Fulton to Butterbridge Road
Rating: Beginner
Ride Type: Out and Back
Distance: 10.1 miles
Map:

Today’s ride combines a casual bike ride on the Stark county section of the Ohio and Erie Canal with a canoe excursion down the Tuscarawus River. We meet at Ernie's Bike Shop Canoe Livery at the Erie Avenue Trailhead in Massillon to pick-up our rental bikes. We cycle north to Canal Fulton for an ice cream cone at Oser's Dairy. We cycle back to Butterbridge Road where the livery will have our canoes waiting. We paddle and float down the river for a 6-mile two hour trip to Massillon. The cost for the bicycle and canoe rental is $22 per person.

After we return to Ernie's, we plan on shopping at Ernie’s Bicycle Shop and having lunch at the Blue Heron Deli. Nothing beats an afternoon of cycling and canoeing on a hot summer day.

Out and back rides are designed with the intermediate and advanced cyclist in mind. These rides cycle out of a trailhead to a set destination, typically 8-10 miles away. After a break, the riders cycle back to the departure trailhead.

This ride is rated as beginner and is a social ride with an emphasis on fun, as well as learning or improving bicycling skills. It is ideal for all ages and just right for someone new to cycling, families with young children and those interested in slow paced shorter rides. The group travels up to 8-10 mph on mostly flat trails with possible gentle upgrades. The group waits for all cyclists with no one left behind.

This ride is scheduled on the calendar of the Spin-off Cyclists, http://spinoffcyclists.com. We encourage you to join us on this and other rides. We are a group of cyclists of all ages and abilities who cycle the trails of Northeast Ohio and surrounding areas for fun, health and friendship.

By accepting this Spin-off Cyclists Bicycle Club event’s RSVP and attending this event, I have read and voluntarily agree to the RELEASE AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT. I further agree that no oral representations, statements or inducement apart from the foregoing written agreement have been made. I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND THIS DOCUMENT AND RELEASE.
