Our May NSP meeting in Boulder will explore how our personal interests and resources can combine to help us work together more effectively for spiritually based social change. More details pending. P.S. The April NSP meeting revealed that there's not enough juice to do a major public conference at this time. So, this idea has been put on a back burner.

Our April NSP meeting will unite the Denver and Boulder chapters to begin planning a major interfaith gathering this summer, likely in early August, that will include representatives from all the major faith communities in our region. This event will be comparable to the major public conference we produced at the DNC last summer. Our goal will be to join the efforts of existing interfaith organizations and diverse faith-based social action organizations to produce a one-day or two-day conference for the general public. The intent is to create or strengthen open communication and cooperation among the members of diverse faith communities in our region for more effectively working together on vital social and political issues of common concern. We want to plant seeds that produce great fruits. Your participation in our planning process is essential. We look forward to seeing you at this important kick-off meeting, and please spread the word to invite anyone you believe will be interested in supporting this effort.

Building relationships with congregations and other elements in the progressive and liberal communities in the Boulder area is an important step in growing a spiritually and values based network. At this meeting we will have updates from peace organizations on the outcome of Israel's recent election and other developments both local and global that most impact our mission of advancing our vision for a world based on generosity and compassion instead of domination and control. We will continue our discussion of how a better understanding of VALUES can best frame the work of the Network of Spiritual Progressives and support the policies which undergird a shared vision of justice and peace.

On the 200th Birthday of our 16th President, Abraham Lincoln, St. John's Cathedral on Denver's Capital Hill presents a special program, A Musical Performance and Dialogue on Race and the Future of America In Three Suites. Featured presentations will be from Dr. Vincent Harding, a companion of The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and founder of the Denver based Veterans of Hope Project at Iliff School of Theology and author of Working for a More Perfect Union by Remembering Our History. Dr. Harding provided the leading benediction for the Network of Spiritual Progressive as NSP members and friends gathered in Denver at the time of the Democratic National Convention last summer. Joining Dr. Harding in performance and then dialogue is Rene Marie. Her outstanding musical tribute is called: Voice of My Beautiful Country.

We are re-organizing the Boulder Valley Chapter of the national Network of Spiritual Progressives. Spiritual Progressives across the nation are mobilizing to reach increasing numbers of Americans inspired by President Obama's inaugural address beginning a new direction for America's domestic and foreign policies in concert with the best progressive ideals of our nation. As progressive individuals from many faith and secular directions we have lots to do to help Obama BE Obama and carry out the vision that he campaigned on in furthering peace, justice and economic and social equality in our nation and around the world. We will discuss how we in the Boulder Valley can work locally and with the new Congress and the new Presidential Administration to further the Global Marshall Plan and help bring peace to the troubled areas of the globe including the volatile areas of the Middle East, Israel, Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, et al.
