Google Cardboard Hack Party

We're really excited to host a Hack Party for Google Cardboard! Come on Down October 4th, hang out, eat some food, Make your own VR headset

Unofficial Cardboard has been AMAZING helping us get ready for this workshop! We were their first Hackerspace to approach them about doing something like this -- so lets show them how awesome SQWR and the Hacker community can be!

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:

We've had more the 15+ pre orders for these kits -- So please, when you RSVP comment and let us know:

 A. If you've pre ordered a kit or not. (Pre orders would have been through the discuss list)

 B. If you're planning on staying or just picking up. (Kits will not be available until this day.)

C. If you're coming but haven't ordered a kit yet. FYI - We have around eight extra and will be capping this working shop at 25 people.

What is Google Cardboard?

Virtual reality has made exciting progress over the past several years. However, developing for VR still requires expensive, specialized hardware. Thinking about how to make VR accessible to more people, a group of VR enthusiasts at Google experimented with using a smartphone to drive VR experiences.

The result is Cardboard, a no-frills enclosure that transforms a phone into a basic VR headset, and the accompanying open software toolkit that makes writing VR software as simple as building a web or mobile app.

By making it easy and inexpensive to experiment with VR, we hope to encourage developers to build the next generation of immersive digital experiences and make them available to everyone.

Here's the Documentation: https://developers.google.com/cardboard/overview

What should you bring?

You'll also need a ruler, glue, and scissors, and an X-acto knife. We'll have extra stuff as well.

Also, please feel free to bring some food/beverage type stuff to share with the group.

Cost: $25
