We thought it would be a good idea to promote a workshop which we are running the week before "Be still my blinking heart."  Some of it might be advanced but personally I find it really exciting to know exactly what's happening behind the blinking!
Here is a quick breakdown of what you will learn. If you don't have all the supplies don't worry, we have extras of most things.
Arduino Survival Guide: Workbench Edition -- Ed Nisley

11 am to 1 pm -- 2 hours over lunch

Learn how to help your Arduino survive its encounter with your project, then live long and prosper. Discover why feeding it the proper voltages, currents, and loads ensures maximum Arduino Love!
Ed will describe some fundamental electronic concepts, guide you at the workbench while you make vital measurements, then show you how to calculate power dissipation, load current, and more. You'll understand why Arduinos get hot, what kills output bits, and how you can finally stop buying replacements.
Bring along:
Your Arduino, its USB cable, and a laptop + Arduino IDE
Digital multimeter (as many as you have!)
If you have these, bring them too:
Wall wart power supply for Arduino (7.5 to 12 V DC)
Alligator clip leads
Power strip for all your AC plugs
