Fly fishing is a way of life, a philosophical attitude which reflects values such as a respect for nature, tolerance, tranquility, self-composure, enjoyment and a readiness for meditation and contemplation. Natures rivers keeps us humble, they offer us enlightenment and the trout teach us gratitude.

The fly fisherman moves slowly and carefully, not wanting to disrupt the natural flow of energy and life contained in the rivers. He understands that haste makes waste. He learns patience by waiting and observing. He takes his time and that is one of the most rewarding experiences in fly fishing. Losing consciousness of time lets you rediscover and appreciate what is most important in life: just being.

It is not the fly fisherman who sets the pace here but nature itself. There is time to focus, to reflect and to retreat for the sake of renewal and a deeper appreciation for life and an understanding and respect for nature. The art of fly casting is inherently a spiritual practice. Fly fishing and fly casting are a path to a nature oriented spiritual experience where the participant learns that his/her life has value far greater than what they have already experienced. Something magical happens when one stands in a stream which is full of movement and life.

The surroundings seem quiet yet full of sound. The average person measures a day of fishing by the quantity of fish caught. Fly fishing is much deeper than that. The day and fishing experience is measured instead by the quality of time spent interacting with nature. The mere experience is more significant than the catch.
