NORTH SHORE CANADA DAY PARADE

This location is shown only to members

The event begins with breakfast being served at 8:00am on Grand Boulevard Park at 14th Street with proceeds going to a local charity.

The parade begins at 10:00 at 13th Street & Grand Boulevard and proceeds down 13th Street to Lonsdale, turning north on Lonsdale. This is the best viewing area as the reviewing stand is set up at 14th Street & Lonsdale. At 17th Street the parade again heads west where it will end at Mahon Park, with opportunity to view some of the entries afterwards.

Later in the day after seeing what celebrations there are, we can enjoy the fireworks display from Lonsdale Quay Waterfront Park at 10:00PM.

Apparently there is a great turn out of various sci-fi characters including our lovable Star Trek themes as well. It would be a great day to get together and celebrate the two things I know this group loves, one being our home and native land, and the other, well...

I'll be there with my Star Fleet Communicator on, to have pancakes in the park. Located near the large flag pole in Grand Boulevard Park, about 14th Street, the breakfast starts serving at 8:00 until about 9:30.

Let's make it so!

Are there going to be fireworks this night? If so, is anyone interested in viewing it and seeing some Kolvoord Starbursts?

How would I get there from Brentwood SkyTrain Station? Is it close to where we met up before in the Northshore?

I was just at Carol's Costume Corner on 2nd in North Vancouver to pick up their donation for the BC Browncoats annual charity screeening of Serenity this Saturday, and saw that they had a number of Star Trek uniforms for rent. She says she is also getting in tv, movie and new movie uniforms for sale next month! woot!

Due to the transit system on the holiday, I won't be there until 8:30 approximately as that's the best directions I got from Translink. So please be advised of my arrival time.

Thanks to "Ambassador Grga" for introducing us to an amazing day! Mell, Shelly, Tristan and myself had the opportunity to become part of the Science Fiction Fans of Vancouver parade entry. It great fun trying to encourage the "Spock Wave" (Vulcan Hand gesture) to the population of North Vancouver, along side many other amazing groups from around Vancouver. We met many other awesome people from other sci-fi meetup groups, and had an ejoyable luch after at "The Eighties". Thanks to all who turned out, thank you to Serena for the photos of the event, and thank you Vancouver.

This was a truly fantastic day. I arrived early enough to enjoy the pancake breakfast, walked holding our banner proudly. The lunch afterwords was also wonderful. It was nice meeting various different people from the different science fiction fandom around. Later, some of us hung around to wait for the fireworks at night. Truly a great day. I only wish I had applied sunscreen... Got a wee bit of a sunburn on my face and forearms. I highly recommend we do more parades together and plan something spectacular for next year's parade. All in uniform, or something like that, plus a shuttlecraft or something for a float. But at any rate those who missed it, missed a wonderful meet-up. I've never been in a parade before so this was a huge treat for me. Live long and prosper!
