Startup Weekend Hartford is a 54-hour event where developers, designers, marketers, product managers and startup enthusiasts come together to share ideas, form teams, build products, and launch startups!

Startup Weekends are weekend-long, hands-on experiences where entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs can find out if startup ideas are viable. On average, half of Startup Weekend’s attendees have technical backgrounds, the other half have business backgrounds.

Beginning with open mic pitches on Friday, attendees are encouraged to bring their best ideas and inspire others to join their team. Over Saturday and Sunday teams design and develop business plans while constantly streamlining their startup vision. On Sunday evening teams demo their prototypes, listen to judges’ feedback and in some cities, win prizes.

Startup Weekends are specifically designed for entrepreneurs interested in receiving feedback on an idea, looking for a co-founder, or who want to learn a new skill. We also welcome anyone looking to test the entrepreneurial waters. Startup Weekends are risk-free environments where everyone is expected to roll up their sleeves and dive into the exhilarating world of startups.

Super. It would have been nice if they had cots and showers available someplace close by - maybe next year. By the way, is there anyway we can get 'contact' info from all participants. If somebody from one team that is not continuing wants to continue with another team, the info would be good to have. Also, if a continuing team needs help or anybody wants to help a team, the info would be great.

Hi Marvin. Last year we had around 85 attendees; I expect this year we will have between 60-80. You will not need copies of your pitch, but bring plenty of business cards to hand out. You can see a list of coaches, speakers, etc on the Startup Weekend Site: http://hartford.startupweekend..... Coaches are encouraged to attend and mingle on Friday night and Saturday morning. This will give teams and individuals time to connect with the coaches early on.

I'm tempted to attend, but a little put off by the "Health & Wellness" theme. Other startup weekends I've seen don't seem to have a specific theme. Also their web page has no details about the theme that I could find. Any thoughts? Or if you have details on this theme, pass along.

I just signed up. Was a bit torn between Hartford and NYC but it will be nice to meet local people.

I came aboard the SW Hartford event (as one of the coach/mentor) much later. SW Philly was the first to have a theme and it was on 'Health' -
There is a fairly active SW Hartford Facebook group where you can post your question regarding the 'Health & Wellness' theme..
