Emerging technologies like depth-sensing cameras and large scale multi-touch surfaces give us ever more ways to interact between physical and digital spaces. But using these technologies meaningfully in real design contexts can require expertise from a range of fields, including technology, design, content strategy, and project management.
In this talk, Norman will explore the collaborative design process behind a large scale physical computing project through a case study from his work at Second Story Interactive Studios.
Norman Lau works as a Senior Experience Designer at Second Story Interactive Studios in Portland, OR, where he conceptualizes and designs interactive experiences that span digital and physical spaces. He collaborates with a multidisciplinary team of designers, developers, and content strategists to build unique interactive environments in spaces like museums, universities, and retail. He received a Masters in Interaction Design from Carnegie Mellon University and a degree in Computer Engineering at the University of Alberta prior to that.
