At this Lunch & Learn, we will discuss some of the common mistakes made by entrepreneurs and companies in the early stages of development and steps to take to avoid falling into these common pitfalls.  This session will be helpful to entrepreneurs in general, but may be most helpful to entrepreneurs in the early stages of an idea.

Your Instructors |  Bill Franks, Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge

Bill Franks is a corporate law, banking and finance, bankruptcy and creditor’s rights lawyer in West Michigan. He represents creditors in bankruptcy, workouts, and collection proceedings. He has nearly 10 years of experience litigating breach of contract claims and default on promissory note actions, as well as post-judgment collection efforts. Bill also defends and advises creditors in bankruptcy matters and preferential transfer proceedings.

On behalf of financial institutions, he handles loan documentation, including promissory notes, security and forbearance agreements, mortgages, and amendments to and assignment of loan documents.  Additionally, he has handled the sale of real estate and business assets and the transfer and sale of liquor licenses on behalf of financial institutions.

Bill has experience in corporate law as an advisor on mergers and acquisitions, state and federal regulatory issues, corporate governance issues, and other corporate matters.
