I've been using Ruby for several years now, and have always been a big fan. It's a fun language with an amazing community. Once Rails came out, my company was able to move to Ruby work full time. We're having a blast, and haven't looked back since.
This group is a great place to learn about the Ruby programming language, web development, and refining your object-oriented programming skills. There are a lot of demonstrations of the latest and greatest thing in software development and web applications, including how it was done and how you can use it in your next project. We usually hang out for a little while afterwords to socialize, help people solve a particular problem that they've been working on, or see some ad hoc demonstrations of what's new in the field. But it's also a fantastic way to meet and network with other people in the area who work within the same field. You never know if you're going to meet that future friend, customer, employer, or employee here. Oh, and free pizza.
I want to post a hike for Sat., Aug. 29. Where is the link to do that?
Man, I signed up for this group -- and then a week later I moved out to California. Sounds like a good group of programmers, if I'm back in State College I'll be sure to check the group out.
