I programmed webapps in java from 2004 to 2006 at which point I switched to ruby on rails at version 1.1.4. I switch all of the clients I was in charge of at Moki Systems over to Rails in the hope of making St George a better place to be a programmer. In late 2007 I took a job as associate rails developer at upillar.com. In 2009 I took over the position of Lead Rails Developer which I have held until the present. During this period some of the things I've been most proud of are: An advanced search with thousands of dynamic options such as categories and fields that change depending on the category your in. Even at a million listings it can still return accurate useful results in a few milliseconds which is a huge improvement over mysql but still allowed for the detailed search options available in mysql. An tree system that can read and write very fast even at over 500k nodes. We were using betternestedset before but had problems with inserts taking forever after 150k nodes.
I try to be the best Rails Developer, Photographer, Musician and Videographer I can be. I love Ruby and Rails because it turns programming into an artform instead of the tedium that has been associated with web development in the past.
