Time for another Stockholm Ruby meetup at Valtech. The event will start with a talk by Patrik Stenmark, who will talk about "Architecture on Rails, or: Avoiding Rails Spaghetti".
"Rails is awesome, right? Features are flowing, the code is easy to understand (It's just MVC!). Testing is built in, so that's awesome as well (But of course you switch to RSpec, that's much better). Everything is good, until that day comes where you realize that the app is a mess of implicit dependencies and coupling. This talk is about a different way of building a Ruby and Rails app. There will be dependency injection, services and factories, but no AbstractSingletonProxyFactoryBean, promise! It is a talk about yak shaving and what is "good enough". About how you can turn Rails into Java and how you can use all the good things with Ruby and still have a nice architecture without turning Rails in to J2EE.
After this we'll continue we'll continue with an open space session or two. The talks will start at 18:00 and Valtech will provide a light dinner (Wraps) and drinks.
