Tasting Party - Food and Booze

Come get your taste on!

Vom Fass is a little known secret tucked away in Maplewood. They sell oils and vinegars for cooking, wine, whiskey and other various adult beverages.

The store will be hosting a private party for our group and you can taste everything. Except each other. Well, I mean - that's not exactly off limits but it's not on the menu.

They will be serving 8 - 9 dishes buffet style all made with their special oils and vinegars which might include: turkey, meatballs, green beens, roast beef, pasta salad, romaine salad, guacamole, cake or other various dishes.

Along with the yummy food they will have about 5 bottles of wine for us to drink and Prosecco (sparkling wine) that we can mix with other liqueurs. Plus, don't forget you can sample any of the other drinks including the scotch whiskies they have stored in casks.

Everything is available for purchase in these great glass bottles. This is not stuff you can just pick up at the local grocery store chains. Also, all this stuff makes for a great gift and packaged beautifully. So if you need to buy some type of hostess gift for Thanksgiving or Christmas parties these are ideal and unique.

Cost is $25 per person for the food, wine and again, you can taste just about everything they have for sale. They accept cash, credit and check.

We need at least 12 people to make this event happen. You can pay the night of the event. PLEASE DO NOT BE A NO SHOW AS I WILL PERSONALLY HAVE TO COVER THE COST OF ANYBODY WHO DOES NOT SHOW UP. I will hunt you down, cover you in extra virgin olive oil purchased that night, roll you in flour and then release you in east st. louis. Thank you for your cooperation in advance.

Check out some of the cool stuff they sell:

Pretty cool event. Everybody seemed to be having a good time. Staff is extremely knowledgeable about what they sell. We had a lot of people end up buying their own stuff.

Ischell, I opened up a spot for you. Please let me know if you can't make it.

Everyone else, along with the wine and alcohol sampling they will have water but that's it. So if you need to bring a soda , tea or something feel free. Please do not bring your own alcohol.

Kathy, good idea. If everybody is ok with that we can split the cost of $25 between the rest of us. Just waiting to hear back from Carol for a total of 9. Is everybody else willing to chip in $2.75 to make up the difference if we have to?

Here's an idea- If we don't get a 10th person could we all split the $25 at $2.77 each?

I was thinking the same thing that we could split.

I'm looking forward to my first Meetup event and meeting you all! I've also sent the invite to some pretty cool friends of mine who are not currently Meetup users. They may come and make this social a party! See you all soon.

Chris, talked with them today and not enough food you'd be able to eat. You can still go to taste everything else if you would like but the cost is the same. If you do go I'll have them label any food that is gluten free.

We are good to go as long as we have 10 people which is what we have now assuming nobody drops out.

    Jenn,

Will we have to cancel if we don't fill the 3 slots?

    November 14, 2012

  • Chris L.

This sounds like something I would really like to go to. But without knowing if there will be food I will be able to eat I can't say yes or no. Is there a way to find out about the menu, and if they will be able to accommodate my gluten-free diet?

Jennn, I will check and see if I can make this event - it looks like a lot of fun. Thank you so much for the invite. I'll get back with you if I can make it.
