We are excited to invite you to the 7th meeting of Stockholm Hadoop User Group! Again, two presentations will be delivered during the event. Please find the details bellow:
================ PRESENTATION 1 ================
Title: Hadoop Adventures At Spotify
Speaker: Adam Kawa
Abstract: Operating a small-size Hadoop cluster is a calm walk in a forest, while working with a big-size Hadoop cluster is a big adventure in a real jungle. The bigger elephant is, the more love and care it demands and we have discovered it in a hard way.
In this talk, we will take you for a trip into Hadoop jungle at Spotify to show the most interesting, exciting and surprising places where we have been to while growing fast from a 60 to 690-node Hadoop cluster.
We will share our seven real-world Hadoop issues that either broke our cluster or made it very unstable. Each story comes from our JIRA dashboard and is based on facts. We will expose our real graphs, numbers, even our emails and excerpts from our dialogues. For each story, we will also honestly share the mistakes that we made and we will describe our fixes and the lessons that we learned.
Bio: Adam Kawa work as Data Engineer at Spotify and his main responsibility is to maintain a rapidly growing Hadoop cluster. He blogs about Hadoop at HakunaMapData!.

Bio: Enrico Berti is a Vienna based UI engineer with more than a decade of experience in several IT fields, from very critical banking applications to non-profit organizations, creator of Napkee (www.napkee.com) and main UI engineer of Hue, the open source Apache Hadoop UI (http://gethue.com).
================ ADDITIONAL INFO ================
Please RSVP to this meetup, since we need to put everybody on a guest list for entering the Spotify office. The event will be held in the cafeteria of the Spotify office, so don’t go to the normal entrance but to the 11th floor.
Pizza and beverages will be available for the participants during the meetup. This is another reason to RSVP to this meetup, if you are willing to come - it will help us to estimate the number of pizzas and drinks based on declared attendance.
The door will be open between 17:45 and 18:15*. Because of fire regulations, we need to keep a list of everybody in the building, so please make sure that you get your name ticked off the list at the entrance or (in case of a +1), make sure that the person at the door puts your name on the list.
*Unfortunately we can not leave the door open all the time (the company security policy), nor have a person that will be constantly watching for guests coming late. If you really need to come later, please let us know in the comments bellow, so that somebody will come to the door to open it a given time.
See you at soon!
