We are excited about our upcoming program next Tuesday, February 17 which will feature two authoritative speakers. Lauren Templeton will discuss value investing as pioneered by John Templeton (see the attached copy of Lauren’s “Maximum Pessimism” report; enroll to receive a free copy of the Maximum Pessimism Report on a quarterly basis by visiting www.maximumpessimism.com.). Mike Turner will discuss constructing an ETF (Exchange Traded Funds) portfolio that consistently generates high returns while keeping your risk exposure low (check out Mike’s website, www.turnertrends.com). Both speakers are investment practitioners (i.e., money managers) as well as authors/information providers. We will hold drawings to give away copies of Lauren’s book “The Templeton Way” and Mike’s book “10: The Essential Rules for Beating the Market”. Registration is at 6:30 pm and the presentations will start at 7pm Sharp!

The AAII Atlanta Chapter Presents…

Lauren C. Templeton

Principal, Lauren Templeton Capital Management, LLC

Ms. Templeton is founder and president of Lauren Templeton Capital Management, LLC, an alternative investment firm. She is also founder and co-owner of Maximum Pessimism, LLC, which publishes and distributes the Maximum Pessimism Report on a bimonthly basis. Ms. Templeton is founder of the Southeastern Hedge Fund Association and serves on the finance advisory board of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, the pre-business advisory council at the University of the South, and the board of trustees at the Baylor School. She is the author of “Investing the Templeton Way,” a value investor’s guide to the successful methods employed by her great uncle and mentor, Sir John Templeton. Ms. Templeton is a current member of the John M. Templeton Foundation. She holds a BA in Economics from the University of the South.

Lauren’s presentation will focus on “Investing the Templeton Way,” a book written Ms. Templeton that describes the successful investing methods of Sir John Templeton—billionaire investor, mutual fund pioneer, and Ms. Templeton’s great uncle. In addition to the book discussion, Ms. Templeton describes the application of her uncle’s methods including specific bear-market strategies such as the purchase of closed-end funds trading at a deep discount to NAV. Ms. Templeton blends specific comments on investing strategies with an up-close perspective on her uncle, highlighted by personal anecdotes as well as correspondence the two shared on investing. Focused largely on the value of contrarian thinking and behavior, the discussion emphasizes the importance of behavioral finance by examining the methods, actions, and beliefs of one of the world’s most successful fund managers.

 Mike Turner

Founder and President, Turner Trends, Inc.

After a successful career as a serial software entrepreneur, Mike Turner founded TurnerTrends, Inc. and authored “10: The Essential Rules for Beating the Market,” both of which are focused on an entirely new stock analysis system incorporating a rules-based software system based on technical and fundamental analysis. His Web site, www.turnertrends.com provides valuable equity analysis tools for individual investors (for stocks and ETFs). In addition to his “TurnerTrend Weekend Report” newsletter subscription service available on www.turnertrends.com, Mr. Turner provides managed accounts and hedge fund services through Sabinal Capital (www.sabinalcapital. com).

Mike will demonstrate how to build a world-class portfolio that consistently generates high returns while keeping your risk exposure low. Learn the key rules for knowing exactly which ETFs you should have in your portfolio right now, but more importantly, learn the early warning signals of when to take your profits off the table. There are hundreds of exchange-traded funds available to investors. Learn how to know the best ones to own, when to own them and when to get out of them. If you are tired of the excuses and poor performance of your mutual fund managers, learn how you can replace those mutual funds with a world-class portfolio of exchange-traded funds.
