We had a fantastic turnout for last Wednesday's Stock Investing Meetup. As promised, we covered a lot of ground on basic stock returns and intro to stock screens. But we're just getting ramped up. I will provide a detailed agenda in the next week or two, but in summary, we will dig deeper on stock fundamentals and use them in stock selection via stock screening. We will touch a bit on portfolio management too (and eventually have a dedicated session on that topic).
I have TENTATIVELY scheduled our next meetup for Thursday, June 13, 2013, 7pm. Register here: http://www.meetup.com/stockinvesting/events/118653072/. NOTE: effective June 1, 2013, the GSU Brookhaven facility is closing and will not be available for rental. So, I NEED YOUR HELP in finding us a new location (please see the June 13 Meetup description on the web for details of what we need for a room).
Screening, analyzing and selecting stocks for investments
Building a portfolio
Developing risk management strategies
Measuring portfolio results
We will spend time examining various aspects of stock analysis, including fundamental analysis, technical analysis, quantitative methods, and valuation.
In addition, we will consider a number of commercial stock "systems", including IBD/CANSLIM, ValueLine, VectorVest, Morningstar and Zacks as well a variety of tools (websites, screening, equity analysis, portfolio management, etc.).
This group is intended to be heavy on member participation (i.e., sharing experiences and techniques).
