I am trying to get a little better organized and would like to have the meetings better planned so I'm putting out a request. Here is our upcoming schedule. I've got 2 requests -
First, let me know if there is a month that you would like to be 'discussion leader'. I've got the description for what that is at the bottom of this email.
Second, I'm trying to come up with a better term other than 'discussion leader' or 'questioner'. I don't know, maybe something fun? Anyone good at coming up with things like that? Let me know your thoughts!
St. Pete Book Club
October - One Hundred Years of Solitude
by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
November - Enrique's Journey
by Sonia Nazario
December ? Nickel & Dimed
by Barbara Ehrenreich
January ? The Art of Racing in the Rain
by Garth SteinDiscussion Leader
1.) Not be a no-show in the month you?re signed up for!
2.) Finish the book
3.) Have a list of questions or discussion points for the book
a. These can be questions already available through the book, publisher or other online resources
b. Or they can be made up by you as simple and detailed as you would like
c. Or a combination of made-up and available
4.) Be prepared for the discussion to go off topic from your questions! You can pull us back if you?d like or just let the group run.
5.) The best part ? bring a list of books that you are interested in for the group to vote from for the next meeting on the calendar (we keep a rolling 3-5 month calendar, so your book would be a read a few months in advance
6.) I have no real rules about what books we read. The group rules on that. The only thing I ask is that the book be available in paperback. I do not want members to have a difficult time getting a popular book from the library or purchasing a hardback
Thanks, and let me know if you have any questions!
