The Meetup was great - thanks to all the volunteers and their effort!

It was interesting to see Jersey Mike supplied the subs - we used to live a couple of miles from the original store in Pt. Pleasant, NJ. Now the franchise is everywhere!

My son and I had fun playing a ton of games.

awesome! huge thanks to Ron and all the others to make this happen. Wareagles, Ron!

Ron posted this earlier in the Facebook group.

    NEW ADDITION TO ONSITE REGISTRATION

I just added new functionality to the on site registration that will really help speed things.

IF YOU HAVE AN OGRE ACCOUNT, when you get a chance, log in. You will see the "<your name> is Logged In" welcome message at the top but now I have added a number. If you go to your profile, you will also see this number and it's called your ~in a booming voice~ OGRE ID NUMBER! Write that down!

Instead of giving your name and email address over and over again, just give me that number, when you sign up using the onsite tickets. I will jus need to lknow the SDay, start time and name of the game along with your ~booming voice again~ OGRE ID NUMBER, and we will get you registered.

I will have stickers at the desk so you can write it down and add it to your badge.

    Thanks!

Are there any in walking distance? I am just curious. ;)

    November 14, 2013

    • Mark K.

Also last year the grinning goblin took orders for sandwiches tableside and then delivered them when they arrived! How it that for close by?!

      1 · November 14, 2013

    • Glenn N.

      Very close! :D

One other question; Do they allow drinks in the playing area? Would it be smart to bring some 20 oz bottles to the convention to drink while playing or do you have to purchase stuff at the hotel?

      http://www.justusprod...

"MACE encourages its attendees to take advantage of the Grinning Goblin table side service all weekend. They have a wide variety of snacks, drinks and ordered food. However, MACE and JustUs Productions discourages attendees from bringing in outside meals and drinks, as it is against our agreement with the hotel."

"Possession of alcoholic beverages within the convention space is prohibited."

      November 14, 2013

    • Mark K.

The grinning goblin was very reasonable priced last year.

      November 14, 2013

  • Glenn N.

    Places to eat nearby?

    November 13, 2013

    • Ron M.

      Oh yes plenty

      1 · November 13, 2013

    • Todd M

I also found the hotel bar / restaurant to be pretty tasty last year.

      1 · November 13, 2013

  • Bryan

I want to attend but only could possibly do Friday, is there another rate for just one day besides the 25 dollar pre-registration

    November 13, 2013

    • Ron M.

I think you would have a good time. Not sure what kind of push I can provide other than that. A small gaming con like ours has a great atmosphere and is a great way to meet new gamers.

      1 · November 13, 2013

    • Mike B

Bryan, I will be there. That should be enough reason for anyone ;)

      1 · November 13, 2013

Is anyone interested in working in the game library with me on Saturday night from 9pm to midnight? Adam has a conflict that night and is looking for a volunteer to take his shift. You can get a discount on your admission for these 3 hours. Thanks!

Tony and I are hosting a preview of the new FFG game, Eldritch Horror and a game of Nothing Personal with co-designer Steve Avery. If you are interested let me know and I'll give you the details.

    1 · October 29, 2013

    • Marty C

We also might play Friday night. I'll know more early next week

      November 7, 2013

    • Glenn N.

I have a seat for Nothing Personal on Sat at 2:30; hope to meet other members there

      November 9, 2013

  • Chris

Preregistration at the justusproductions.com site is open until November 13. Not only is it $25 for the weekend vs. $40 at the door, but you also get to skip a long line at the registration desk.

    3 · November 5, 2013

    • Ron M.

Also, just to clarify, the Registration page and OGRe are not connected in the way you are assuming. The name and email address fields are for Registration and Badge information ONLY. It would be nice if I can automate that a little more but I can only do so much in my spare time. If you guys want to pay registration fees enough to pay me a good salary, maybe we can make that happen LOL... just kidding.

      November 6, 2013

    • Ron M.

Yea come to the gaming registration table ( which will actually be the first "registration area" you will see. I will be in front of the room called Glenwaters. I just need you to sign in, pay me whatever money you may owe me if you run less than 12 hours worth and I will give you your badge.

Will more games be added to the schedule on Ogre? It seems that Saturday there are only games listed early in the day?

    October 26, 2013

    • Ron M.

The board game library will have non-scheduled pick up games and chances are you will see more of them all over the con. People have known to buy games at the con and try them out there. We welcome noobies one and all. All GMs are expected to teach so do not be afraid of games you do not know.

      October 27, 2013

    • Glenn N.

Thanks for the help, Ron & Chris!

      October 27, 2013

  • Chris

Sign-ups for games are now open for those who have preregistered. Based on my experience last year, I'd guess that many games will not have room for walk-ins.

    1 · October 1, 2013

    • Ron M.

Jason brings up a very valid point and in my experience, there are varying degrees of preference in how much structure attendees want. Table top board games can go either way. RPGs, not so much. Minis, even less so. It depends types of games and the size. I find that big epic board games tend to need more scheduling then the smaller and shorter games, for instance. Origins has both scheduled and pick up, for example. MACE has tried to follow that base model and create an environment for both. We have the game library room where everyone can bring their own game stack and play whatever. And it's not limited there. If you can find an open table (schedules for each table on on table signs so you can tell how long a table is going to be open) feel free to drop a game on it. I totally encourage pick up games and will work with you to find space if there doesn't seem to be any immediately.

      2 · October 24, 2013

    • Ron M.

NOTE: Sat afternoon is the worst time for picks up because the schedule is so full, but there should be space somewhere.

      October 24, 2013

  • Todd M

Ron has created a list on BGG of games that people would like to see at the convention. http://boardgamegeek.com/geekli...

Please feel free to stop by and request a game. Or if you are looking to run a game or want some ideas of what to bring to the open play sessions, take a look at what people are asking for!

    October 2, 2013

  • Todd M

If you are interested in working our table or the gaming library for discounted admission to the convention, let me know ASAP. We want to get our list together for Ron before Oct. 1. Thanks!

    September 27, 2013

    • Todd M

Let me know if you didn't get my email response. I'm sending Ron our list today, so if you can get back to me ASAP, that would be great. Thanks!

      Just sent email.

Todd made mention of a place where we can volunteer to run a game table at the con. Where is that? Sorry if I missed it.... I am looking at this on my phone.

    1 · September 26, 2013

    • Mike B

I got it! I would like to sign up for a 4 hour stint. is the idea we just run our favorite game(s) for 4 hours or so?

      September 30, 2013

    • Mike B

I will not be available until after work Friday. What time slots are still open? I figured I can run Shadow rift and something else in 4 hours.

      September 30, 2013

  • Glenn N.

My son Steven and I will both be attending

    September 20, 2013

  • Glenn N.

Is this convention actually in the city of Charlotte? Is it easy to drive to?

    June 29, 2013

    • Ron M.

It is in the University area just off i-85

      June 30, 2013

    • Greg R.

      And yes ;)

      September 20, 2013

  • Ron M.

At someone's request, I have made a Geek List....

    MACE 2013 Game Play Wishlist
    http://boardgamegeek.com/geekli...

I have made a Geek List on Board Game Geek/RPG Geek list that will allow anyone to request games for MACE. You can add games you would like to see played at MACE.

    August 30, 2013

  • Ron M.

Adding games on a regular basis. Should have between 400 and 500 games when it is all send and done.
