Help Portrait, anyone?

Photography and lighting is obviously one of our passions. Many of us are here to learn with and from our peers about the strobist techniques. But, how about we give something to our community while we practice new techniques. You may have heard about the Help Portrait project but if you haven't, I encourage you to checkout their video posted on Scott Kelby's blog (link below). Help Portrait is about getting photographers together to shoot families and children that lack the resources to pay for a professional portrait.

I think is a good idea and I would like to participate and make that one of our meetings. It's a great opportunity to test our skills, try new techniques and give something back. I want to know if enough people are interested in doing this, to setup the meeting and start working the logistics.

To measure the responses I have created a poll at

Thank you for your responses!

P.S. If you have any idea of a school or location where we can held this event, please email me at [address removed]. Thanks again!
