How to breathe?

What would be the proper way of breathing, especially in meditation? Many breathing methods have been introduced but many people are still in confusion.

The first thing in breathing practice is to learn how to feel and watch own breath. Just watch your breath...just feel it. No force is necessary to induce certain breathing pattern. Enforcing certain breathing pattern could results in some kind of disorder. It could be very serious since the breathing is the core metabolism of living organs. If you want to try a certain breathing pattern, please make it sure to be natural. Breathing came to us naturally and shall be kept in that way.

The purpose of breathing for the mind body exercise practitioners is to attain a balanced and focused mind set otherwise we won?t progress any further. Our mind is always busy enough to settle to one (or no-one) yet we need a focus...a balanced focus.

Focusing mind can be attained through breathing. Breathing is a very effective tool to achieve a meditative state. It is unconscious yet can be fully conscious. When it is practiced in a proper way, it could be the key to tune in the mind and body together. It could be the channel to connect us all and to the ultimate reality.

In Sun Do breathing, the practitioners start to practice their breathing pattern from focusing their mind at the center of lower abdomen, the energy center. It is called Danjeon in Sun Do. It is the only place in our body where the energy acquired from food and the energy acquired from breathing make a rendezvous like the popular Yin and Yang simbol. It is the gravity center of our body. It is the center of our nervous system. It is also the root of our mind. It is where you can experience the no-mind status.

Know the location of the center first since you should know what you are doing. Focus on where you are supposed to focus on. Practice on what you can get solid results. Breath, mind, and the life energy-Ki, go together always. Breath follows where mind goes; the Ki flows to the part of body where the mind reaches.

Be natural...let the breath breathe...be one with your breath. It is the way of breathing, it's the way of meditation.
