Ryan Dempsey will be covering image handling in Drupal. New Drupal users are often frustrated by the fact that there is no image handling included by default in Drupal core. Searching the module repository only adds to the confusion as there are so many different options to choose from with regards to image handling. We'll look at a few popular recipes to get images onto your Drupal website. This talk is geared to those that are fairly new to Drupal, though it would help to have a very basic understanding of CCK and Views. Experienced Drupalists are also welcome as we would love to hear alternative methods and site recipes.

Doug Gough of ImageX Media will be teaching us the basics of creating a Drupal module. Use some of the most common Drupal API hooks, such as hook_user, hook_nodeapi, and form_alter to create a basic module that reacts to changes to user information. Create a theme function to style the output of the module.

Hello everyone,

Our next meetup in on February 12th at the ABC on Fraser Hwy in Surrey. This month we'll be having a guest speaker coming in. Audrey Foo from Raincity Studios will be coming to share about a talk entitled "Navigate the path to drupal contribution, using the issue queue, patches and cvs". Basically she's going to cover how to make the jump from user to contributor (the options as a contributor range from documentation to adding modules and more).

Learn to use cvs as either an anonymous user or as a maintainer of a module or theme. Maintaining drupal codebases can become easier with the use of cvs. Please RSVP if you'd like to join us.
